6c - Sixty Years in Parramatta
(1888 - 1948)

A Garden Party to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee concludes with Benediction. Sisters and students form the choir singing beautiful Latin motets. Stylishly hatted ex-students kneel on the grass for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament to be given from the ‘bridge’ linking the Convent with the Chapel. The Papal flag flies above between the flags of Ireland and Australia. On the bridge the presiding clergy, flanked by altar boys, pray before the enthroned monstrance.

A sepia-toned photograph of a religious gathering in a courtyard with arched brick architecture. A large crowd, mostly women in hats, watches a choir of girls and nuns. An altar with clergy is visible on a balcony, with flags hanging above the scene.
